Top 5 Must-See Places While Visiting Kalispell, Montana

If you ever find yourself visiting Northwest Montana and you love the outdoors, you’ll want to check out Kalispell. Anchored between Flathead National Forest, and Glacier National Park, Kalispell is a haven for city-dwellers and nature-lovers alike. Because of the close proximity to so many options, I’ve included options in/around the city that I think you won’t want to miss.

Main Street Kalispell

Lined with shops, restaurants, bars, boutiques and breweries alike, downtown Kalispell has something everyone can enjoy with its historic main street. A quick drive down main street will reveal a plethora of old historic buildings and houses that make up the gorgeous façade of the town. You’ll be sure to find something everyone can enjoy here.

Foys Lake

Foys Lake is the closest lake to Kalispell and is nestled right near the entrance to Lone Pine State Park. Foys is home to some of the bluest lake waters you’ll likely ever see in your life. A cool dip on a hot summer day might just be exactly what you need to feel refreshed and ready for your next Kalispell outing.

Woodland Park

Woodland Park is home to an amazing garden and peaceful park that is perfect for walking your dog, or decompressing in nature without ever leaving the town. It’s also home to the only outdoor waterpark in Kalispell. In addition to the waterpark, it has a skatepark, rentable pavilions, and even a pond. For me, the gardens and waterpark are the main attraction.

Parkline Trail

The Parkline trail is a relatively new addition to Kalispell, having been completed and formally opened in July of 2022. It is a 100% paved multi-use, dog-friendly trail open to walkers, bikers, and runners. Running through the heart of downtown Kalispell, it’s perfect for those living in Kalispell, and those who are just visiting as a chance to be outdoors and see much of what Kalispell has to offer while providing a means of exercise and enjoyment for anyone wandering down the path. Definitely a must visit amenity of Kalispell, and your furry friend will appreciate it as well!

Glacier National Park

What list of Montana things to do would be complete without featuring Glacier National Park? Especially in Kalispell, resting so close to the parks entrance and serving as a home for those wanting to explore the park without having to rough it camping in the woods. Glacier National Park has no shortage of hikes, sights, and activities in itself and is a must-visit spot for anyone spending time nearby. I suggest checking out Hidden Lake which is accessible from the trailhead located at Logan’s Pass visitor center. But no matter where you find yourself in Glacier, you’re sure to have plenty to see and appreciate as it’s one of the most pristine and awe-inspiring National Parks that America has to offer.
